My new DS Lite

Originally uploaded by tiffany bridge

This is my new DS Lite. It was given to me as part of a promotion in which I am a “Brand Enthusiast” for Nintendo. I’m actually having a really great time with it. Brain Age is the crack. Nintendo is pretty serious about marketing this thing to women who don’t consider themselves “gamers,” and they’re going to great lengths (and spending what I can only assume must be a ton of money) to get women to try them out.

If you’re female, and in the DC area, and I’ve not told you how you can also get a fun evening out with some super-fantastic people and a DS Lite of your very own, hit the comment box and leave me a valid email address. Because I want to share the consumer electronics love, and my Mario Kart friend code, with you.

The sad thing is, “O HAI” is now so common in the conversation happening around me that I didn’t notice this immediately.

Spring Call

It’s cold here, and we’re supposed to have an ice storm roll in tonight or tomorrow. So I’m posting this plum blossom to remind me that spring is a month away.

edible or not

…because I’m sure it was annoying someone. Even if it entertained me greatly.

Friday was the night Tom and I crammed a bunch of plans with a bunch of people all into one evening. Dinner with Steph, Jon, and Erin at 7. Hangin’ at Brittany and Craig’s at 8. Alonzo Bodden/Matt Kazam comedy at 9:30. And then we did very little for the rest of our three-day weekend (hurray for federal holidays!).

Well, except that we got surround-sound set up in the living room, which means maybe I’ll be able to hear all the dialogue in TV shows again. Just in time for the writers’ strike to end.

And we made chicken parmesan on Sunday night. It’s incredibly labor-intensive, and we dirtied every dish in the kitchen, but it was so delicious and so worth it. If you do it, be sure to make extra chicken so that you have enough for leftovers later. Because it’s really complex and you want the food to last a day or two. :)

Oh, and we had the worst trip to Johnny Rockets ever. A new one opened a few months ago in Shirlington, and we were kind of wanting patty melts, but they just couldn’t get it together.

So I guess we did actually do some stuff over the weekend.

This Saturday is our big movie day- AMC is doing this thing where you can see all 5 Best Picture nominees in one day for $30. That’s going to be a lot of really heavy movie viewing. Wish me luck- I’m very excited about it, though.

City Tavern Club, you’re on notice!

Oh FuckOriginally uploaded by seanbonner

Because the Internet never forgets, I just want to swing some Google-juice over to Tom’s retelling of our experience last night at the City Tavern Club. The guy who had arrived before the stores in G-town closed and had managed to buy a collared shirt wore it untucked, still wrinkled at the bottom from where it had been folded in the store and that was just fine, but Tom in his tailored slacks and cashmere sweater apparently did not meet their dress code. Aside from my general distaste for places that make you pay for the privilege of observing their arbitrary and capricious dress code, I’m more annoyed that their pretentious asshattery screwed up our celebration of our dear friend and his lovely fiancee.

The general manager apologized thoroughly to Mike afterwards, but that isn’t going to restore to us the lost opportunity to celebrate with them on the night they became engaged. Just another example of why I hate Georgetown.

I posed this before, a couple of months before our wedding, but it seems appropriate for the day. Read about the planetary love of Yee & Lan.

And a happy Valentine’s Day to my sweetie, who has made Valentine’s Day a bright spot in the middle of the dreariest month 5 times in a row now. :)

Mirada de carnaval

Originally uploaded by nigul2002

There’s not a lot going on for me to blog about lately. I go to work, I come home, I hang out with Tom, sometimes I hang out with my friends, and that’s about it. It’s cold, we’re hunkered down until spring, but there are plenty of people in my life who count on this space for signs of life.

I’m well, I’m happy, but having a blog-light phase. By way of apology, I hope you accept my occasional Flickr-joy in lieu of actual content. This photo in particular struck me today- partially because of the way it’s colorized, and partially because of the way it’s cropped- is that a woman or a man?
