Friday, September 15th, 2006The news that Wal-Mart is ending its layaway service made me think of one of the favorite playground insults traded when I was in elementary school:
“Yo’ mama’s so poor, she has to put penny candy on layaway!”

This is a story about how geeky my husband and I are.
He was helping me with some tasks last night in World of Warcraft, which was pretty entertaining, because I’ve only gotten as far as level 10 and he’s a level 60. So imagine him laying waste in front of me as I run through the game entirely unscathed. We surprised another level 10 who was working on the same quest as me and didn’t expect to see a level 60 come in and level the camp.
Anyway, when we got done with the mass genocide and pillaging, we stopped to take a geek family portrait. I positioned my troll priestess next to his undead warlock, he adjusted the game perspective, and took a screenshot.
I think the extra monthly fee for my own account is worth it simply because it makes it easier for us to share a hobby we both enjoy.
I saw a posting on Craigslist yesterday for “BRAZILIAN HOUSECLEANING.”
All I could think was, “Is this some new housecleaning technology whereby you pour wax around the house, and when you pull it out all the dirt comes with it?”
Alas, it was just a posting for a Brazilian person who wants to work as a house cleaner. Damn.
It has sucked me in, despite all predictions to the contrary.
I finally broke down and got my own World of Warcraft account so Tom and I can play at the same time. I joined We No. I play more than once every couple of weeks.
*shudder*
But my troll priestess? She’s got the really cool Juju Hex Robes now. W00t!
In case you’re wondering, I play as Tomatosauce.
(The plan is to have a whole raft of female alts and call them the Sauce Girls- Soysauce, Hotsauce, Applesauce, Cheesesauce….)
