So there we are, Tom and I, sitting on our couch, watching our preferred Monday evening programming. And this amusing Weight Watchers commercial comes on, with this entertaining little orange monster, representing hunger, trying to distract the female protagonist into eating something that will sabotage her <del>diet</del> newly-adopted healthy eating patterns.

Only, I don’t understand something. Hunger is represented by a tiny orange monster… WITH NO MOUTH.

How does THAT work? He’s Hungry, but cannot eat? What does he think he’s going to DO with that pizza? “Here, you take it… I can’t eat it.” Is he hungry because he doesn’t have a mouth? You’d think the Mouthless Hunger Monsters would long since have selected themselves out of existence that way. Is this some sort of hideous, tragic deformity? Is Hungry doomed to a lifetime of misery and ridicule? Is Weight Watchers trying to PROFIT from this cruel irony?

Don’t worry, Hungry. I will speak for you and your kind. Since you, uh, obviously can’t do it for yourself.

It’s been a quiet Christmas here at Hacienda Bridge. After a strenuous Christmas Eve filled with cooking, cleaning, an emergency client visit for Tom, having to learn quickly how to cook a prime rib while Tom was out on said client visit, and a post-church dinner that went on well past midnight, we spent pretty much all of today in Christmas Coma.

I’ve been in my jammies all day, watching The West Wing with my husband and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
